Able to post pictures!

(While I could, I also added some pictures back in the Fort Worth entry., so check them out if you have a chance.)

First on Charlie's list in Fort Worth was to show me Billy Bob's Honky Tonk. It's the biggest honky tonk in the world.

This might not seem like much at first glance, but then you get inside. It's pretty overwhelming. It's so large, in fact, that in has a real bull riding ring INSIDE. Dirt, smells, and all. For those of you have ever seen Charlie put on his doo-rag with a pony tail, you know how much he looks like the guy in the picture below. Except Charlie's much better looking!!!!More later...

All the way to New Mexico

We were doing well with our driving schedule so we pushed past Amarillo. We thought of Jonathan as we passed the Cadillacs standing straight up in the middle of nowhere, and were thankful for the time we got to spend with him last year. Because of him, we saw those cadillacs and got to spray paint them, we saw a beautiful canyon, and got to ride around Amarillo like crazy people photographing really weird signs. And saw bathroom sinks shapes liked the state of Texas. (See the post from Amarillo from last year...) Thanks, Jonathan.

Catch Up Day

Something that we've learned from traveling together is that every once in a while we need a day to do nothing. It's hard, because you feel kind of guilty that you should be doing something since you're in some new location, but then, you just have to give in to it. We did laundry, cleaned up, bummed around.

And then went back to the bead shop. He's a saint.

Mississippi to Fort Worth

After our morning bout with ants, so far they're ahead, we set off for points west. We went right through Louisiana. No flea markets...no bead shops...and NO REST STOPS! Not one along I20.

We decided to go as far as we felt like it, and as luck would have it, we ended up in Dallas /Fort Worth at rush hour. Fortunately we were going against traffic:) and were able to locate a tiny RV park in the middle of downtown Fort Worth. Seriously. The only one for miles and right in the middle of everything. Not fancy, and perfect.

Next day...Charlie and I went to the Stockyards (Old Town Fort Worth) and did some sightseeing. If you want a pair of boots, a belt, or a cowboy hat, that's the place for you!

We got to see a cattle drive, and, I know you're not going to believe this, but there was this bead shop... I am married to a saint.

Perry to Mississippi

Since last Wednesday, we’ve been with about 300 other rigs at the Georgia Samboree. Eleven of those were from our groups in Florida. We had a great time. Bob didn’t have a chance to beat us at cards, which he usually does, though. He was too busy winning the championship titles for the Washer Toss, and the Baseball Game. Bob, by the way, is a youngster in his 80’s. Jeannie, Charlie’s sister, spent the night with us on Saturday night, and we enjoyed every minute of it. Thanks for a great week, guys.
Sunday morning we left Perry and drove to Jackson, Mississippi. On the way, we passed a really big flea market. Need I say more. Our rv is scheduled to stop at every flea market or bead shop. This was in Alabama, Roy, and of course we thought of you and Becky.

Sunday night we found a spot at Roosevelt State Park, in Mississippi, on a large lake.

It was beautiful and we only had to jack the rv up a LITTLE bit.

Charlie then began his nightly ritual of calling Direct TV. He is on a first name basis with the tech people. He was trying to figure out why we couldn’t access any of our recorded shows. We KNEW we wouldn’t be able to get satellite because of the BEAUTIFUL (in my opinion) trees. Charlie doesn’t see them as trees, though, he sees them as satellite dish blockers! Two people and 30 minutes later they finally figured out that you must have a LITTLE signal in order to access your dvr. Of course we couldn’t access our shows. We didn’t have any signal, which we knew we wouldn’t have. That was why we taped the shows.

Needless to say, we ended up going to sleep early, which was probably a good idea anyway.
Monday morning, I was peacefully sitting in the bathroom when I noticed a very serious line of ants moving into the rv. Luggage and all. We got out the spray and began the fight. As Charlie went outside to undo the hose, he realized the ants had not seen the hose as a hose, but as an opportunity. (Picture to follow.) One little ant was even holding a sign that said, “All aboard!”

This meant war. So far, the ants are winning. We’ll keep you posted.

Knowing Charlie, as you do, he calmly stopped at the first opportunity, put it back in, and said, "at least the door's not hard to open anymore..."

This one's for you, Wayne... Yesterday, when we left, we got to our first stop on cr220 and we heard a loud noise. We looked back and found our brand new icemaker (that Charlie had mounted into a cabinet) lying on the steps. The whole slideout! Charlie said, "Quick, run back and take a picture for Wayne. That's what he wants to hear about!!!!!"
Morning all! We spent the night with Jeannie,in Valdosta, met up with 4 other rv's this morning and we're in a convoy heading to Perry, Ga, for the rally:)

Getting Ready

Hi, Guys. Charlie and I are packing and sorting. And sorting and packing. It's hard to remember sometimes that the rv is not like a boat...you can stop at a store if you forget something.
Most of you know that we cut out...literally...the dinnette area in the rv and put in a small table and chairs. I like it so much better and it seems so much more useable. Hope so.
Now I need to repack the rv with all of the canned goods which seem to be the same ones that I bought last year that we didn't use!!! Well, you never know. We may need 10 cans of black beans which, by the way, Charlie doesn't even eat.
